Handmade Roundup 12-5-15

Welcome back to Handmade Roundup! I’ve been super busy sewing Christmas ornaments for my shop, but I allowed myself a little break to browse Etsy and find some beautiful new items to share! 🙂

blog_turtleorns

The ocean comes to life in these gorgeous ornaments by ShopNDS. Each ornament is a wood slice, and features a handpainted scene of a sea turtle surrounded by coral and sea plants.  They have awesome detail in the art, and I find them so calming to look at! Love them. ❤

blog_parrotbeads

MyHappyHobby is filled with tons of adorable lampwork beads, so it’s hard to pick a favorite! These colorful parrots are too cute. They come in green, blue, and yellow, and all three coordinate well together too.

blog_handbag

I love love LOVE this vintage Moschino handbag from OceanAndMoreJewels. Great colors, great style, and lovely patent leather shine! Beautiful.

blog_zebra

This print from BrookeLeAnneArt is an attention grabber! I love the striking contrast of the black and white zebra with the colorful flowery background. She has lots of other colorful mixed media prints too. Check them out!

Handmade Roundup #12

blog_snowwhite
I love this whimsical necklace by ZingaraCreativa. It features a chibi Snow White hand sculpted out of polymer clay, surrounded by flowers and mounted on a pendant base. I love the detail in this piece, especially the locks of her hair and the folds of her skirt. Lovely!

blog_leafpin
There are lots of handmade leaf brooches to choose from on Etsy, but none quite as unique as this one from WoolBoon! This cute little guy has shiny black eyes, rosy cheeks, and a big toothy grin! Watch your fingers, or he might give them a nibble. 🙂

blog_shellbox
Now this is a cool find! SusanJohnsonDesigns is offering this antique jewelry/sewing box, complete with contents. The outside of the box is covered in seashells, and the inside contains some old sewing notions, including unopened packages of seed beads. It looks like it’s in great shape to be over a century old!

blog_pinkart
I love love love this mosaic from BerryIsland! It’s made of vintage plastic beads in all shades of pink, accented with pink flowers, and framed in an upcycled thrifted frame. This bright, cheery work of art would be perfect for a nursery or little girl’s room!

Handmade Roundup #11

It’s been a while, but here’s another edition of Handmade Roundup! 🙂

.
blog_dragon
I love this cool forest dragon from MiraCrafts! This unique pendant is made out of polymer clay, and sculpted to look like a dragon made of wood and moss. The textures on the wood and plants are amazing! Very cool.

.

blog_pigcane
Awww, piggies! These cute clay canes from MiniatureSweet look like a litter of cute little piglets. Aren’t they adorable? These pigs would look cute on jewelry, nails, phone cases, or anything! The shop even gives the choice of a full cane, or pre-cut slices.

.

blog_bento
This vintage bento box from ggsdolls has such a great retro look! The girl illustration was drawn by Masako Wantanabe, who is known for his work in mid-century shoujo manga. This would be perfect for a little girl or a great addition to an anime memorabilia collection.

.

blog_cards
Say “thank you” with a rainbow! Apaperaffaire offers these colorful cards in a set of 5, in red, orange, yellow, green, and aqua, with a coordinating flower design. I love the simple beauty of these lovely cards.

Handmade Roundup; Aug 11 – Aug 24 2014

blog_felt

I love this cute wall hanging basket from GobiFelt. It’s made of felted wool and wool yarn in bright beautiful reds, yellows, and blues. It could be used to hold a houseplant, or to store knick knacks. I love all the incredible handmade detail in this beautiful piece!

blog_vest

I don’t think you could ever get cold in this sheepskin vest from BoxofHollyHocks! This is a lovely vintage piece, made of patchwork fleece. The back has a fun “crazy quilt” look, and its even reversible. I love the old, arctic look of this cool vest!

blog_minibooks

LittleThingsInterest makes me wish I had a dollhouse to decorate! The shop is filled to bursting with tiny miniature books, perfect for dollhouses or other tiny scale dioramas. There are books for every taste, including children’s books, classic novels, cookbooks, and even modern titles like Game of Thrones. There are also some other miniature items, like tiny figures and scaled down wallpaper. What a cute shop!

blog_mantis

SculptureGeek has lots of cool 3D sculptures, but my favorite is this praying mantis. This cool insect art would look great in a room with lots of tall housplants, or on a screened in porch. And it’s available in green, red, or brown, to fit any decor. I love it!

Handmade Roundup: July 20 – Aug 10, 2014

Hello again! It’s been a few weeks since the last Handmade Roundup (I was busy looking into the details of refinancing my home), but now we’re back on track. 🙂 Lots of fun, colorful finds in this installment!

blog_panda
Get ready to say “Awwwwww” with this panda soft sculpture from IrraNellie! This cutie is needle-felted from soft wool, and features an adorable little panda in a green hat. He looks so sweet and cuddly, and I love how the bright green hat gives a pop of color against the black and white body. The whole shop is filled with charming little animal sculptures, so check them out!

blog_pastabeads

How cute are these?! Boncukkutusu is offering these adorable beads, shaped like twisted pasta. These vintage beads from the 1980s are incredibly cute, and would be perfect for children’s jewelry or crafts. I love them, they’re so fun!

blog_treepen

I can imagine a beautiful rustic wedding that includes this pen holder set from JKartshop. This set is made of wood and moss, and is burned with “please log in” and the initials of the happy couple. Twig pens, also woodburned with initial hearts, finish the set. I love the earthy, woodsy look of this great wedding accessory, and I think it would be perfect for an outdoor wedding!

blog_yarndyed

Check out ColorShiftYarn for a huge selection of beautiful dyed yarns. The wool yarn is dyed in a rainbow of colors, in amazing gradients. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I had to go with this lovely purple-to-green collection. Beautiful!

blog_afghan

And speaking of colorful yarn, CrochetKaleidoscope knows how to use it! Her whole shop is filled with bright and colorful hand crocheted afghans, in a variety of bold patterns. I  especially love this white one with the multicolor squares. Great retro look!

Handmade Roundup: July 7-13, 2014

Welcome to this week’s Handmade Roundup!

blog_carart

This is certainly a one of a kind piece of artwork! This mixed media art by WrensEyeDesigns features lots of toy cars, arranged in a rainbow radiating from one corner. The listing says that 300 cars were used! This would make a great piece of decor for a car lover, or a toy collector, or anyone who likes unique and unusual artwork. Very neat!

blog_hairgirl

Check out this groovy (get it?) upcycled record by SecondSpinDesigns! It features a 33.3 rpm vinyl record cut into the shape of a 70s disco girl, complete with afro. They even offer a choice of several different artist’s records you can use. What a fun way to keep a vintage record out of the landfill, while making a distinctive piece of home decor.

blog_sportbra

It was hard to pick a favorite from Jmorco! The whole shop is filled with cool, sporty clothing in bright colors. Who wouldn’t feel awesome going to the gym in this cute Supergirl inspired sports bra? I love everything in this shop! And the kickass physique of the model (is that Jmorco herself?) definitely motivates me to hit the weights! 😉

blog_shellnecklace

CraftsbySigita is offering this lovely rainbow necklace. This necklace features discs of brightly colored shell, in pink, purple, yellow, green, blue, and brown, with coordinating seed  beads between. I love the bright, happy, pop-art vibe of this cool jewelry!

Handmade Roundup: June 29 – July 6, 2014

Roundup time!

blog_horses

What a great photograph from WildHoofbeats! This shop is filled to the brim with incredible photos of wild horses, and it was super hard to pick a favorite! But I had to go with this lovely shot of an equine family in Colorado. I love the way these horses were captured in a “gradient” – foal, mom, and dad are positioned both small to large, and in color order from the light foal to the bay father. What a great shot of this beautiful wild family!

blog_melonbeads

These handmade paper beads from WrappedPerfect are so fun and summery! They’re painted to look like fresh watermelon, complete with a green rind and tiny black seed dots. I love the bright colors and the beautiful shine on these beads. There are other fun paper bead designs too, so check out this cute shop.

blog_shelves

These wooden shelves by DesignerShelving are very cool! They’re made of white pine that has been stained to highlight the natural grain of the wood, and edged with organic shapes instead of the usual right angles and straight lines. And instead of each shelf being attached to the wall, these slats are hanging with the help of a metal cable. The result is a cool woodsy minimalist look. These would look great in a farmhouse, a rustic log cabin, or a beach themed home.

blog_heart

StarlessClay is another shop where I have a hard time picking a favorite! Her items are made of colorful polymer clay, rolled into strands and arranged in flowing swirls and curls. I love the bright colors of this rainbow heart in particular. Great shop!

That’s it for today. See you next week!

Handmade Roundup: June 9-22, 2014

Time for this week’s (ok, actually TWO weeks) Handmade Roundup!

Image

I love handmade animal figures, and Colinscreatures has some great ones! There are lots of different varieties of sheep available, as well as the occasional cow, alpaca, and dog. I like the way the fiber bodies are combined with porcelain heads and legs to make a multi-textured figure. And it looks like a lot of effort was made to research each breed and make the animals accurate. Very cool!

Image

Here’s a crown fit for a woodland fairy princess! This cute headpiece by PrettyToppings has two rows of felt pine trees, one in green and one in white. A border of sequins and pearls rings the base of the crown and gives it some sparkle. This tiny crown is meant as a baby photo prop, but a bigger one would be perfect for a little girl’s dress up box!

Image

If you want to stand out at a fancy event, this dress by MoLeKuLa is the one for you! The front is a bright, colorful art deco-ish geometric pattern in blues, greens, and pinks. The back is black, with a lovely sheer fabric at the top. Beautiful! I love the daring and playful look of this fun dress.

Image

Here’s a unique piece of kitchen art from Bettinastreehouse. This mixed media artwork is made of burlap stretched in an embroidery hoop, painted in vibrant colors, and sewn with cotton floss. I love the bright, cheery green of the lime, but there’s also an orange, lemon, and grapefruit to choose from. This colorful art would brighten up any kitchen!

Handmade Roundup: June 2-8, 2014

Time for this week’s Handmade Roundup!

Image

These strawberry slippers from Irinaonix are so adorable it hurts! They’re hand felted out of natural wool, with leather soles for durability. They’re made to look like ripe red strawberries, with green leaves at the ankle, and a little blossom as trim. Any child would look like a cutie in these lovely (and comfortable looking!) felted shoes.

Image

You could feel like an enchantress with this dragon mask from RobinRed. It features a red dragon with purple wings, guarding its hoard of gold and treasure. I love the incredible detail here; you can see each scale, and every individual coin! And I love the touch of the dragon’s tail ending with a curl that rests on one cheek. Incredible work!

Image

This fairy sewing table by PandoraJane is another highly detailed piece. I love miniatures, and these are some of the cutest I’ve seen! They are made out of natural materials like bits of bark, twigs, and acorns. This piece features a sewing table and bench, complete with a little sewing machine. It really looks like it was crafted by tiny fairy hands, using the natural materials that they could find in their forest home. My guess is that they use spider silk as thread! 🙂

Image

I love this art by KateFensom. This print of an original painting shows a brilliant white stag, glowing in the blues and purples of the nighttime forest. All of her paintings have a lovely fantasy feel and dreamy storybook style. Such beautiful artwork!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s selections! See you next time! 🙂

Handmade Roundup: May 26 – Jun 1 2014

Time for this week’s Handmade Roundup!

Image

I love this hand-cast geode soap by Soapsmith. It really captures the look of natural stone and jewels, in sparkling green, blue-green and orange. This soap looks like it was chiseled off the wall of a magical, hidden cave!

Image

This is a beautiful piece of art by TangentsbySHS. This artwork features a bright abstract sun in red, orange and yellow, hand-painted onto a slice of salvaged wood. I love the contrast of abstract modern style art with the rustic nature of a tree slice. This piece would look lovely brightening up a rustic or country styled home.

Image

Take a look at this stunning hand-painted cloak by IslesofDay. This unique piece is painted to look like the wings of an owl or eagle. I can imagine how fun it would be to wear this cloak as part of a fantasy costume; it would be perfect to imagine yourself as an elf or druid, or a shape-shifting sorceress. And the best part is that the proceeds go to help rescued kitties. 🙂

Image

SylviaOrtizDeLaTorre did an amazing job with this polymer clay heart brooch. It’s made in beautiful patchwork pinks, and is textured to look like cloth. The clay “stitches” make it look like a lovely hand-sewn fabric brooch, but it’s actually made of durable and beautiful polymer clay. I love it!

That’s it for this week. See you next time! 🙂
