Handmade Roundup 12-5-15

Welcome back to Handmade Roundup! I’ve been super busy sewing Christmas ornaments for my shop, but I allowed myself a little break to browse Etsy and find some beautiful new items to share! šŸ™‚

The ocean comes to life in these gorgeous ornaments by ShopNDS. Each ornament is a wood slice, and features a handpainted scene of a sea turtle surrounded by coral and sea plants.Ā  They have awesome detail in the art, and I find them so calming to look at! Love them. ā¤

MyHappyHobby is filled with tons of adorable lampwork beads, so it’s hard to pick a favorite! These colorful parrots are too cute. They come in green, blue, and yellow, and all three coordinate well together too.

I love love LOVE this vintage Moschino handbag from OceanAndMoreJewels. Great colors, great style, and lovely patent leather shine! Beautiful.

This print from BrookeLeAnneArt is an attention grabber! I love the striking contrast of the black and white zebra with the colorful flowery background. She has lots of other colorful mixed media prints too. Check them out!

Fox redesign

I redesigned my fox pins! I’ve always liked my felt fox brooches, but I thought they looked a bit too catlike. With this redesign, I think they look a lot more foxy. šŸ™‚ Foxes are so popular that it can be challenging to come up with a unique design, but I’m pleased with what I’ve made here.

What do you think? Here are some more pics.

For reference, here is what the original foxes look like. Cute, but basically just a cat…?

Craft Show – Vinton Farmers Market 6/13/15

I had a table at the spring craft show at the farmers market in Vinton Va this past Saturday. Here are some pics. Keep in mind that I’m still perfecting my displays and table setup. šŸ™‚

This was the handmade half of the table. The keychain spinner rack is just off to the left…somehow I missed getting it into the pic!

A closeup on some of the handmade items. The blankets and dishcloths were made by my mother. I had a clearance basket filled with items that I’ve discontinued or have changed the design of. Ignore the tape gun; it wasn’t there after setup!

My barrette and hair clip display. It was breezy that day, so some of them were twisting side to side on the ribbons! :O

This is the vintage half of the table. I love finding old needlepoint and cross stitch pictures at estate and yard sales, then cleaning them up and framing them nicely. The bigger ones were on top of the table, while the smaller ones were displayed on a metal rack in front of the table.

I had my Square reader ready to go! šŸ™‚

Now here’s the plot twist…after all that work, I did terribly. I sold literally nothing. NOTHING! My mother made $3 on some dish cloths, but I made $0. *sad trombone noise* It wasn’t just me, though…traffic was super slow, and some of the crafters packed up and left way early.

Oh well. This was a tiny show at a small farmers market so I’m trying not to get discouraged. I’ll keep an eye out for bigger, better shows were I might have more success!

Handmade Roundup #11

It’s been a while, but here’s another edition of Handmade Roundup! šŸ™‚

I love this cool forest dragon from MiraCrafts! This unique pendant is made out of polymer clay, and sculpted to look like a dragon made of wood and moss. The textures on the wood and plants are amazing! Very cool.

Awww, piggies! These cute clay canes from MiniatureSweet look like a litter of cute little piglets. Aren’t they adorable? These pigs would look cute on jewelry, nails, phone cases, or anything! The shop even gives the choice of a full cane, or pre-cut slices.

This vintage bento box from ggsdolls has such a great retro look! The girl illustration was drawn by Masako Wantanabe, who is known for his work in mid-century shoujo manga. This would be perfect for a little girl or a great addition to an anime memorabilia collection.

Say “thank you” with a rainbow! Apaperaffaire offers these colorful cards in a set of 5, in red, orange, yellow, green, and aqua, with a coordinating flower design. I love the simple beauty of these lovely cards.

Handmade Roundup; Aug 11 – Aug 24 2014

I love this cute wall hanging basket from GobiFelt. It’s made of felted wool and wool yarn in bright beautiful reds, yellows, and blues. It could be used to hold a houseplant, or to store knick knacks. I love all the incredible handmade detail in this beautiful piece!

I don’t think you could ever get cold in this sheepskin vest from BoxofHollyHocks! This is a lovely vintage piece, made of patchwork fleece. The back has a fun “crazy quilt” look, and its even reversible. I love the old, arctic look of this cool vest!

LittleThingsInterest makes me wish I had a dollhouse to decorate! The shop is filled to bursting with tiny miniature books, perfect for dollhouses or other tiny scale dioramas. There are books for every taste, including children’s books, classic novels, cookbooks, and even modern titles like Game of Thrones. There are also some other miniature items, like tiny figures and scaled down wallpaper. What a cute shop!

SculptureGeek has lots of cool 3D sculptures, but my favorite is this praying mantis. This cool insect art would look great in a room with lots of tall housplants, or on a screened in porch. And it’s available in green, red, or brown, to fit any decor. I love it!

Handmade Roundup: July 20 – Aug 10, 2014

Hello again! It’s been a few weeks since the last Handmade Roundup (I was busy looking into the details of refinancing my home), but now we’re back on track. šŸ™‚ Lots of fun, colorful finds in this installment!

Get ready to say “Awwwwww” with this panda soft sculpture from IrraNellie! This cutie is needle-felted from soft wool, and features an adorable little panda in a green hat. He looks so sweet and cuddly, and I love how the bright green hat gives a pop of color against the black and white body. The whole shop is filled with charming little animal sculptures, so check them out!

How cute are these?! Boncukkutusu is offering these adorable beads, shaped like twisted pasta. These vintage beads from the 1980s are incredibly cute, and would be perfect for children’s jewelry or crafts. I love them, they’re so fun!

I can imagine a beautiful rustic wedding that includes this pen holder set from JKartshop. This set is made of wood and moss, and is burned with “please log in” and the initials of the happy couple. Twig pens, also woodburned with initial hearts, finish the set. I love the earthy, woodsy look of this great wedding accessory, and I think it would be perfect for an outdoor wedding!

Check out ColorShiftYarn for a huge selection of beautiful dyed yarns. The wool yarn is dyed in a rainbow of colors, in amazing gradients. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I had to go with this lovely purple-to-green collection. Beautiful!

And speaking of colorful yarn, CrochetKaleidoscope knows how to use it! Her whole shop is filled with bright and colorful hand crocheted afghans, in a variety of bold patterns. IĀ  especially love this white one with the multicolor squares. Great retro look!

Handmade Roundup: June 29 – July 6, 2014

Roundup time!

What a great photograph from WildHoofbeats! This shop is filled to the brim with incredible photos of wild horses, and it was super hard to pick a favorite! But I had to go with this lovely shot of an equine family in Colorado. I love the way these horses were captured in a “gradient” – foal, mom, and dad are positioned both small to large, and in color order from the light foal to the bay father. What a great shot of this beautiful wild family!

These handmade paper beads from WrappedPerfect are so fun and summery! They’re painted to look like fresh watermelon, complete with a green rind and tiny black seed dots. I love the bright colors and the beautiful shine on these beads. There are other fun paper bead designs too, so check out this cute shop.

These wooden shelves by DesignerShelving are very cool! They’re made of white pine that has been stained to highlight the natural grain of the wood, and edged with organic shapes instead of the usual right angles and straight lines. And instead of each shelf being attached to the wall, these slats are hanging with the help of a metal cable. The result is a cool woodsy minimalist look. These would look great in a farmhouse, a rustic log cabin, or a beach themed home.

StarlessClay is another shop where I have a hard time picking a favorite! Her items are made of colorful polymer clay, rolled into strands and arranged in flowing swirls and curls. I love the bright colors of this rainbow heart in particular. Great shop!

That’s it for today. See you next week!

Handmade Roundup: June 9-22, 2014

Time for this week’s (ok, actually TWO weeks) Handmade Roundup!

I love handmade animal figures, and Colinscreatures has some great ones! There are lots of different varieties of sheep available, as well as the occasional cow, alpaca, and dog. I like the way the fiber bodies are combined with porcelain heads and legs to make a multi-textured figure. And it looks like a lot of effort was made to research each breed and make the animals accurate. Very cool!

Here’s a crown fit for a woodland fairy princess! This cute headpiece by PrettyToppings has two rows of felt pine trees, one in green and one in white. A border of sequins and pearls rings the base of the crown and gives it some sparkle. This tiny crown is meant as a baby photo prop, but a bigger one would be perfect for a little girl’s dress up box!

If you want to stand out at a fancy event, this dress by MoLeKuLa is the one for you! The front is a bright, colorful art deco-ish geometric pattern in blues, greens, and pinks. The back is black, with a lovely sheer fabric at the top. Beautiful! I love the daring and playful look of this fun dress.

Here’s a unique piece of kitchen art from Bettinastreehouse. This mixed media artwork is made of burlap stretched in an embroidery hoop, painted in vibrant colors, and sewn with cotton floss. I love the bright, cheery green of the lime, but there’s also an orange, lemon, and grapefruit to choose from. This colorful art would brighten up any kitchen!
